Beneath the feminine, focused exterior of author Jennifer Bouani, lies a spunky kid named Tyler; an inventor, adventurer and entrepreneur. Jennifer penned Tyler as the main character for her children’s book series about entrepreneurship. In creating, writing and publishing her Future Business Leaders Series she has dealt with many of the same challenges faced by her young characters.
“Several years ago I was frustrated by the amount of outsourcing to foreign countries going on in the business world. Weren’t Americans creative enough to solve our business problems ourselves?” Jennifer says. “I wondered what sources young people had to educate and inspire them to look for business solutions and continue our nation’s leadership in Capitalism. There were no books to be found, so I began writing them myself.”
Jennifer multi-tasks in many ways to research, write, and develop her books. Even a simple story like Tyler and His Solve-A-Matic Machine about a boy who gets a great idea, decides on a plan of action, steers his friends into the adventure, and earns some revenue along the way calls for research.
“I read all the time,” says, Jennifer, “ I read about everything from politics and taxes to the Federal Reserve, and I pay attention to media.” Husband Sean is very involved, and with his PR background, marketing, printing and publishing, they form a creative team that may well influence tomorrow’s business leaders. They reach out to students, teachers, and groups like Junior Achievement to make them aware of the importance of dialog about entrepreneurship.
There is worldwide interest as well. The books are about to be translated and published in Korea. Jennifer is also launching an online community where teachers and faculty can share ideas about projects that work in their schools.
It all started with a dream and Jennifer’s determination the issues get solved – or is that “Solve-A-Matic”?! |
